Casa Árabe

Casa Árabe, established in 2006 by Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, AECID, and the regional and municipal governments of Madrid and Córdoba, is a key institution promoting intercultural dialogue, education, and international cooperation, particularly between Spain, Europe, and the Arab world. With extensive experience, it organizes over 300 annual events, including conferences, exhibitions, workshops, and film screenings. It is also part of significant international networks such as the Anna Lindh Foundation and EuroMeSCo. Casa Árabe operates from two headquarters: one in Madrid and another in Córdoba. Both are located in iconic buildings situated in UNESCO World Heritage sites.
The institution also runs a prestigious Arabic Language School, offering a wide range of courses for different levels and specific purposes, taught by native-speaking professionals.
Institution’s Role in the GH Project
Casa Árabe leads WP6 and will participate in all the work packages implementation.

Brief Biography:
Professional in Euro-Mediterranean cultural cooperation and European project management, with extensive experience across roles at AECID, UNESCO, and the Interarts Foundation. He has coordinated numerous EU-funded projects and managed cultural initiatives in France, Tunisia, Morocco, and Spain, including overseeing festivals and leading departments at CCEMX-AECID in Mexico. His recent work focuses on managing an EU-funded culture and sports inclusion project in Tunisia.
Responsibilities within the Project:
Project Manager.

Brief Biography:
Expert in Islamic education, movements, communities in Spain and Europe, and Islam on the Internet, with a degree in Pedagogy and PhD in Anthropology from the University of Cordoba. He has worked on European research projects since 1996 and been a researcher/analyst at Casa Árabe (2009-2014), now coordinating cultural programming in Cordoba.

Brief Biography:
Cristina Juarranz is a Deputy Director and Program Coordinator at Casa Árabe with a degree in Semitic Philology from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She has held various leadership roles in the Spanish Ministry of Culture, the Reina Sofía Museum, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including leading cooperation initiatives in Africa and Asia. She co-chaired the OECD's MENA Governance initiative for seven years and has contributed to multiple international conferences. Juarranz is also the author of "Innovations to the Spanish Public Employment System.
