The Green Heritage project successfully organized a study visit to Ostia Antica on March 28-29, 2025, hosted by the Ostia Antica Archaeological Park. The visit brought together partners from across Europe to share best practices in environmental stewardship and cultural heritage conservation.
The visit began with a tour of the Ostia Antica archaeological site, followed by a session on green practices and educational activities implemented at the site. Participants then engaged in a brainstorming session on the environmental education needs and discussed the role of community involvement and storytelling in heritage conservation.
On the second day, the group visited the Isola Sacra Necropolis, connecting archaeological heritage with territorial memory, followed by a guided tour of the Portus Necropolis. The visit concluded with a meeting at the Agro Museum, where participants explored community engagement in heritage projects.
This study visit successfully facilitated knowledge exchange and fostered a collaborative spirit among the partners, highlighting the importance of integrating environmental and cultural practices in heritage conservation and their application across different European sites.
