As part of the Green Heritage project, a study visit to Slovenia was successfully conducted, focusing on knowledge exchange and sustainable practices in heritage preservation. Partners visited the Archaeological Park San Simon and Mythical Park Rodik, gaining valuable insights into Roman legacy, environmental stewardship, and community engagement.
The visit to the Archaeological Park San Simon included a guided tour of the Roman villa maritima and its submerged port. Participants explored the site’s architectural, cultural, and environmental significance during the Roman period, as well as its modern function within the Science Center of the University of Primorska.
The program continued with an exploration of Istria’s Roman heritage and its unique historical context. Discussions centered around innovative projects dedicated to the sustainable management and preservation of Roman architectural remains and mosaics.
A visit to Mythical Park Rodik offered a unique perspective on how mythology, local traditions, and storytelling can be integrated into heritage interpretation to engage diverse audiences and promote cultural sustainability.
A highlight of the visit was the presentation of local initiatives aimed at promoting Roman heritage to wider audiences. These activities focus on the simulation of various Roman-era events and risks, as well as the promotion, interpretation, and reconstruction of Roman social games, offering engaging ways to connect the public with the ancient past.
The study visit contributed significantly to building a community of practice among the Green Heritage partners, promoting shared values, knowledge transfer, and best practices in cultural heritage preservation and environmental responsibility across Europe.
