26 June 2025Córdoba, Spain, May 8–9, 2025
As part of the European Green Heritage initiative, a study visit and a series of training activities took place in Córdoba on May 8–9, 2025, with a focus on the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices among partner institutions.
The program began with a visit to the archaeological park of Medina Azahara, the former caliphal city of the Umayyad dynasty, followed by the Festival de los Patios, a unique example of intangible heritage and sustainable preservation of urban environments. On the following day, activities continued at the headquarters of Casa Árabe Córdoba, complemented by guided visits to the Mosque–Cathedral and the Jewish Quarter, offering participants deeper insights into the rich Andalusian legacy and its relevance to contemporary Europe.
The study visit aimed to foster transnational exchange in the field of cultural and natural heritage protection, strengthen partners’ capacity to apply sustainable solutions in heritage preservation, and initiate the creation of a community of practice built on shared values, knowledge, and experience.
Key themes included sustainable management of cultural heritage, the role of local communities in its protection, and the contribution of organizations connected to Casa Árabe Córdoba in advancing intercultural dialogue, sustainability, and community development.
