Training at Viminacium: Visitor-Centred Design for Sustainable Heritage

Within the framework of the Green Heritage project, Work Package 4 – Capacity Building for
Environmental Education through Cultural Heritage – a hands-on training session was
successfully held at the Archaeological Park Viminacium. The event was organized in cooperation
with Academia Politehnika and brought together professors and experts from the Institute of

Archaeology, tourism professionals, project partners, and technical staff of the park.
The training focused on the co-creation of innovative, visitor-centred approaches aimed at
enhancing the sustainability, accessibility, and overall visitor experience at Viminacium. Through
interdisciplinary exchange and practical work, participants explored ways to better connect
cultural heritage with contemporary audiences while integrating principles of environmental
education.

Building on Viminacium’s rich archaeological legacy, the session contributed to the development
of new practices that support inclusive heritage interpretation and strengthen the role of cultural
sites as platforms for learning, community engagement, and sustainable development.
